Over the last 300 Ohio Pick 4 draws, the digit 1 landed in the first position 47 times. A fair share there is 30, so 1 has been camping in slot one like it pays rent. The other three slots have leaders too: 2 in the second position (36 times), 9 in the third (44) and 0 in the fourth (40), counted over the 300 draws from May 22 to the October 19, 2026 midday draw.
So which Pick 4 numbers come up most? It depends on which of the four slots you are looking at, and that is the whole point of reading a digit game position by position.
What does 'most common' mean in a four-digit game?
Ohio Pick 4 draws four digits, each from 0 to 9, and each slot is its own little ten-way race. Over 300 draws, every digit should land about 30 times in any one position and about 120 times across all four combined. A digit can lead the first slot and trail in the third, so one blended tally hides most of what actually happened.
Pick 4 draws twice a day, midday and evening, which is how its record has grown past 18,700 draws since January 1, 2000. That is plenty of history to slice.
Which digits lead each slot?
Here is the 300-draw board through the October 19, 2026 midday draw, with the busiest and the quietest digit in each position, then all four positions pooled:
- First position: 1 leads with 47, then 2 (38) and 0 (37); 7 and 9 trail with 20 each.
- Second position: 2 leads with 36, then 9 (34); 0 trails with 23.
- Third position: 9 leads with 44, then 7 (35); 0 trails with 20.
- Fourth position: 0 leads with 40, then 3 (34); 6 trails with 22.
- All four pooled (1,200 digits): 2 leads with 133, then 9 (131) and 1 (130); 6 trails with 98.
Is a 47 as wild as it looks?
For one named cell, say 1 in the first slot, reaching 47 or more out of 300 draws is about a 1 in 711 shot. But nobody picked that cell in advance. The board has 40 cells (four positions, ten digits each), and the chance that at least one of them climbs that high is roughly 1 in 18. Unusual, yes. Spooky, no: a big board throws up a standout like this on its own.
The low end is even tamer. Three cells sit at 20 (7 and 9 in the first slot, 0 in the third), and a 40-cell board shows a count of 20 or lower somewhere about two times in three. Meanwhile 25 of the 40 counts landed between 25 and 35, right around that fair share of 30. The pooled list has one neat overlap: 2 tops it with 133 and also leads the second slot, while 1, the first slot's runaway, sits third overall with 130.
Why does half of Pick 4 repeat a digit?
This is the number that surprises people most. Across the 18,778 draws from January 1, 2000 to October 19, 2026, 50.8 percent repeated at least one digit. With only ten digits and four slots, chance alone puts a repeat at 49.6 percent, a coin flip. The full breakdown, with the chance figure for each in brackets:
- Four different digits: 49.2 percent of draws (50.4).
- One pair: 44.1 percent (43.2).
- Two pairs: 2.9 percent (2.7).
- Three of a kind: 3.7 percent (3.6).
- All four the same: 21 draws, or 0.11 percent (0.1, about 19 draws), most recently 0000 on November 27, 2025.
